Sri Lanka

A visit to Sri Lanka! I completely fell in love with this country. It was a combination of my love for vegetarian food/curry, greenery & flowers, Buddha, elephants, tea, and MIA that really captured my heart.

Upon arrival, we first visited the Pinnawala elephant sanctuary.
Where I got to touch an elephant!
Then we proceeded to our Hotel, the Kandalama in Dambulla, which was one of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed at. It is nestled in the trees, like a treehouse design. The people in Sri Lanka are so kind.

Being presented with a lotus flower upon arrival.

Sunset at the hotel in Dambulla.
The next day we visited the Dambulla Rock Cave temple. I was given this sarong to cover my knees as I ignorantly went to a Buddhist temple in shorts.

We saw the making of the traditional batik designs.

And I got to try one on.
At the Royal Botanical Gardens.

Which had an amazing orchid display.

Met a little local on the side of the road who gave me a flower. How sweet :)

I believe this was the older sister.
The only word they knew in English was "money".
Crazy garden shrub at our hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

My dad and I with the background of tea plantations in Nuwara Eliya.

The Sri Lankan flag waving on the beach in the capital of Colombo.

Drinking some fresh tea at the Glenloch brewery in Nuwara Eliya.

At a monument in Colombo.

Sri Lanka is seriously beautiful & rich in natural resources. The people are lovely, the food is amazing. I highly recommend it as a place for vacationing.
